When you submerge in a hot tub, you need the jets to soothe the right muscles, the right way. Being able to adjust jets accordingly is crucial for optimum hydrotherapy. This is the standard by which physical therapy and athletic hydrotherapy systems are judged.

Some manufacturers load up a hot tub with lots of inexpensive, non-adjustable, stationary hot tub jets. So even though the hot tub may have many jets, quantity does not always equal quality. If a hot tub’s jets are badly placed and not properly plumbed, it won’t matter how many there are — you will not get the rejuvenation that superior, well-placed jets deliver.

“I want that one!!”

“This tub is massive”

“I’ve had the pleasure of trying out this new tub, and it is awesome”

“Great therapy jets, and all the power you would ever need with the 3 jet pumps”

These are all comments left on our Facebook page regarding the all new Jacuzzi J-495™ spa. This new hot tub is big, versatile and powerful. Learn more about the power of the J-495 hot tub:

“The J-495 is our largest Jacuzzi spa model with plenty of open seating to move around freely and comfortably. Accommodating up to nine adults, the J-495 hot tub is perfect for families and friends. With sixty two PowerPro® jets, each spa seat allows every person to enjoy a complete massage experience. My favorite seat is the PowerPro® FX 10 therapy seat, which targets the neck, back, calves, wrists and feet” states Allison Casteel, Jacuzzi Hot Tubs Assistant Product Manager.

You can adjust and direct individual jets, controlling the volume of water and the direction it flows. Deliver a targeted vigorous massage exactly where there’s a stubborn knot in your back. You can also adjust the amount of air introduced to the jets by turning the air control located on the top of the shell near every seat: you won’t believe what a difference this can make, feeling more or less air swirling through the jet flow! Penetrating, powerful jet massage all the way to a tingling spritz – the J-495 hot tub allows for more massage customization than any other hot tub of its kind. Request a quote now.

Here’s a quick rundown of other features you’ll find on the new J-495:

NEW CLEARRAY™ Water Purification System uses UV-C light to naturally treat 99.9% of waterborne pathogens

NEW ProClarity™ Filter Grill and Skimming Weir keeps the water surface clean

Three Jacuzzi Pumps push the power out to 62 jets – Most hot tubs have only one or two pumps. The J-495 has three high volume, low pressure pumps to provide the power needed to provide each seat a powerful yet gentle massage

Optional- the exclusive J-1000™ Audio System with iPod Docking Station.

Nothing could be more boring than Hot Tub Insulation, right?

WRONG!

That’s what I thought too.

“Insulation is boring. Let’s talk about the hot lights & the fun rubber ducks & yummy smelly scents and stuff!”

But I got a chance to check out the latest innovation in hot tub insulation called FiberCor, and I learned that not only is this hot tub insulation pretty interesting, but it’s also really important.

The insulation used in a hot tub is vital to the energy efficiency of your hot tub. Traditionally fully-foamed hot tubs use 1/2 lb. urethane foam to pack in the plumbing components of a hot tub, keeping them tight so they can’t rattle & warm so they won’t freeze in the cold temperatures. But FiberCor is a loose wool fiber that provides better energy efficiency while getting into all the corners & crevices inside the hot tub cabinet that the hardened urethane foam cannot reach.

Looks like Clouds too!

Some features I like:

- Reusable, yet easily disposable material
- Made from 25% recycled materials
- Non petroleum-based (no dependency on oil prices!)
- First insulation of its kind!
- It feels like clouds (<– seriously… it was the first thing I thought when I touched it!)

FiberCor can only be found on a Hot Spring or Caldera hot tub!

Thanks to our friends at Coastal Spas for grabbing that picture of the FiberCor insulation!

<![endif]-->

The first thing that comes to mind is “ewww!” No one wants to get in a body of water that smells like mold. It is not exactly the most inviting, come and relax scent, but unfortunately it can be a common problem for hot tub owners.

The first thing to do when you are getting a bad smell from your hot tub water is check your chemicals. Moist, warm, humid places like a hot tub can be a breeding ground from bacteria, keeping proper water chemistry is the key to avoiding bacteria and ensuring your water stays clean and safe for bathers. Completing regular water tests will help you make sure that chemicals are maintained properly.

If your water has been neglected for a while and you are having foul odors it is possible that you also have bacteria built up in your plumbing and filter. The best way to correct the problem is by decontaminating.

To do this, you will want to give your spa cover a thorough cleaning as that is a common place for bacteria build up and mold formation. If your hot tub cover is in less than stellar condition or water logged it might be time to consider a new cover as you do not want bacteria being harbored in your old one.

Also you will want to remove and inspect your hot tub filter as bacteria and mold can build up in the filtration system and cause a foul odor. If your filter is more than a year old or in bad condition it is best to replace it, otherwise make sure you are cleaning it regularly with filter cleaner to avoid bacteria build up and ensure that your filtration system is clean and able to do its job properly.

The next step in decontamination and getting your water back in good condition is to hyper chlorinate. Hyper chlorination will give your spa water an extra dose of sanitizer to help kill the bacteria in it. To hyper chlorinate you will want to bring your chlorine level in the spa to a high of at least 100 ppm using granular chlorine. It is best to dissolve the granular chlorine in a 5 gallon bucket of water first so that the granules do not damage your acrylic spa surface. After adding the chlorine to your spa you will want to circulate the water on high speed for a half hour with the cover closed and all jets turned on to get the highest circulation possible.

After hyper chlorinating, prior to emptying your spa you will want to use Spa Purge, this will clean out any other contaminant build up in your plumbing, jets, and filtration system. After completing the purge process it is now time to empty your spa water and refill with fresh water.

Once you have refilled the spa, make sure that pH and Total Alkalinity are balanced. Once you have done that add enough granular chlorine (pre dissolved like before) to bring the level to 10 ppm. Now allow the water to circulate, covered, for 8-12 hours. Now using test strips, like Aquachek Chlorine Test Strips, check the chlorine level. If you get a free chlorine reading then your decontamination was probably a success, if not and the test strips are showing no chlorine reading there is still a high demand for chlorine and the process will need to be repeated.

Once you have tested and come back with a reading that shows a successful decontamination it is time to balance your water with your sanitizer of choice and proceed with regular spa use and proper maintenance.

Keeping on top of regular maintenance by testing and changing your water regularly will help you avoid water problems in the future and hopefully those awful smells that brought you here in the first place.

You can find more details about the CLEARRAY hot tub water purification system when you download a free brochure.

New for 2012, the CLEARRAY water purification system is standard on all models. If you have an older hot tub but want the newest technology in the water purification category, you’ll want to purchase the CLEARRAY aftermarket kit. Retrofittable to 2006 models, the CLEARRAY system uses UV-C technology to neutralize waterborne pathogens, rendering them useless. CLEARRAY will also reduce the amount of sanitizer you use in your hot tub, providing you with clean, fresh clear water. Use in conjunction with ProClear Mineral Cartridge for the cleanest, softest water possible. No more drying out, no more red-eye. Ask your dealer about installation and be on your way to clean, fresh, clear water. Visit your local dealer.

*Our laboratory testing has shown that CLEARRAY can reduce your sanitizer usage up to 50%. Always refer to your state or local government agency standards and regulations on how to maintain your water chemistry.

Employees Work Out at Jacuzzi Hot Tubs

Now is the perfect time to focus on health and wellness since the month of February is American Heart Month. Encouraging living well and exercise is a natural for a hot tub company that makes products designed to promote health and wellness. Here at Jacuzzi Hot Tubs, employees have the opportunity to attend company sponsored fitness classes. Classes are conveniently held in our multi-purpose room, welcome all fitness levels and are led by one of our very own. Brianna Armstrong, who works in our finance department, is also a certified fitness instructor and health enthusiast.

What classes do you offer as part of the employee program?
I teach three to four classes per week including yoga, Piloxing and boot camp. I plan on teaching barre classes in the future and due to popular request, I have also considered adding a lunchtime yoga class for those who cannot make it to class after work.

What is your goal for the employees who are participating in the classes?
My goal is to get employees moving, show them they can exercise and have fun while doing it. Not only do I want them to see improvements in their physical appearance but I’d also like to see an improvement in each participant’s overall wellness…lower stress, more energy, improved mood, better sleep, etc.

Improve your overall wellness. Relax lower stress, increase energy, improve your mood and sleep better with hot tub hydrotherapy. Download a Jacuzzi® hot tubs brochure now.

Teaching group fitness classes is a way for me to reach all types of people and encourage them to live healthier. There are so many excuses when it comes to exercising like no time, too expensive, too far, inconvenient, not coordinated, not flexible, out of shape and the list goes on. No matter what age, skill level, physical shape you’re in, you CAN exercise.

Do you incorporate hydrotherapy as part of your personal exercise regimen?
Absolutely, especially after long runs and bike rides when my muscles are exhausted in order to keep the blood flowing so my legs don’t cramp up. In the evening or the following day, I use hydrotherapy to stretch, warm-up and increase circulation, which helps remove the lactic acid in the muscles, decreasing soreness. Large hot tubs in particular, are perfect, allowing sufficient space for more than one person to stretch and warm up. The combination of hot water and massage hot tubs provide relaxes the muscles, relieves tension and reduces stiffness. Limber and flexible muscles help prevent injury and allows for an increased range of motion.

Learn how to incorporate hydrotherapy into your personal exercise regimen, visit a Jacuzzi hot tubs dealer near you

Aside from exercise, how do you do to live a healthy lifestyle?
I try to live well by making healthy choices on a daily basis. I eat a fairly healthy and balanced diet, stay active at the office by not sitting for long periods of time, try to get enough sleep and listen to my body when I need rest.

On behalf of Jacuzzi, we wish everyone a Healthy Heart Month!
