Greg,
YES! This system is definitely worth it. Not just saying that because I also am a Hotspring dealer, but because I have been in the industry for over twelve years and am very familiar with water care trends over the years. Aside from a cost savings (6lb bottle of salt = $15; 5lb bottle of chlorine = $55) this system also does a lot more. It produces active oxygen which is what you do when you "shock" the spa with an oxidizer to eliminate organic waste. It also produces ozone which is a natural sanitizer. The other key element is that this system is virtually automated. It only requires user input once every 30 days and may only require adding salt once every 60 days depending on use. The cell which produces the chlorine is cleaned once every three months which only takes 10 minutes of your time. Lastly, di-chlor granules that you buy in a bottle contain many additives and buffers like Cyanuric Acid that leave behind bi-products that are typically what cause irritation to the skin and eyes. By producing a 'natural' chlorine you eliminate these bi-products and make for much nicer softer water that doesn't cause these problems. Last word of wisdom in encouraging you to by a Hotspring because they truly are the best spa made, but don't say I told you this; Hotspring spas come with a factory installed ozone unit. When your dealer installs the system they remove the ozonator and keep it. This is a $150 cost to them. Tell them you'll purchase the spa with the ACE system if the discount it $150. Good luck and happy soaking!
