Jacuzzi Hot Tubs Buys Dimension One Spas

Last week, Jacuzzi Group Worldwide added another spa manufacturer to their growing list of companies that they own, Dimension One Spas. Jacuzzi currently owns Jacuzzi Hot Tubs, Sundance Spas, ThermoSpas Hot Tub Products, and now Dimension One Spas. Dimension One Spas will now operate under the guise of New Dimension One Spas and it appears that it will continue to operate as a separate business, keeping existing employees, dealers, and most of the existing operations at their current site in Vista, CA.

Dimension One Spas began in 1977 and has been a premium manufacturer of hot tubs and swim spas. In the past couple of years, Dimension One branched out into manufacturing surfboards to stay afloat in this struggling economy.

What does this mean for the hot tub industry?

It seems that while many spa manufacturers are disappearing due to hard times in the economy, many of the struggling brands are being purchased by the spa manufacturer superpowers like Watkins and Jacuzzi. Pretty soon, all of the major brands may be owned by just a few companies.

Is this a good thing for the hot tub industry? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Freeflow had it’s best year ever when it sold to Watkins in 2011. I would hardly call that “struggling”.

Very true Mike. Freeflow Spas had a lot to offer prior to their purchase by Watkins Mfg., but they seem to be doing even better since their acquisition. Thanks for the comment!
